Toy Story going 3D

Toy Story, soon to be 3D
It was what made Pixar, the movie that really brought CGI animation to the forefront – and now Disney has announced that it will be re-released.. with an additional dimension!
October 2nd has been announced as the release date for the 3D remakes of both Toy Story and Toy Story 2. The movies have been re-rendered from the original digital files to add a new dimension of life to CGI classic and will be playing in theaters as a special double-feature, making use of the most current 3D technology.
This has me wondering about what 3D technology they will be using to produce the effects. Hopefully, by now, everyone has gotten away from the dual color lenses. There’s no way any audience could be expected to tolerate a double-feature with the near immediate onset of headaches that the red and blue lenses are known to produce.
The other extreme would be technology similar to those used to bring a 3rd dimension to games such as Word of Warcraft when using the proper video card which uses motorized glasses to shutter each eye in sync with the picture at an undetectable speed. I don’t think many movie theaters will be investing in a large stock of the expensive glasses that would be required to pull that off.
Most likely, we’ll get the usual polarized lenses, but that’s honestly not too bad of a compromise. I know that I, for one, will be checking it out.
